Underneath everything we are, underneath everything we do, we are all people. Connected, Interdependent, United. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. That's what it means to
LIVE UNITED. |

UNITED WAY 2011-2012 CAMPAIGN
Our campaign goal is $225,000., But in Otsego County it is not about the goal, it's about the need. With the effects of the recession continuing in our community, the needs for programs and services we support are greater than ever. This year we will work to include more busnesses in our campaign efforts, challenge them and the community to LIVE UNITED by making this goal a realty, and invite you to help celebrate our success on behalf of EVERYONE in Otsego County. Not pledged or donated yet? WE MISS YOU, and we need you. Please consider hitting the "Donate" button and making that donation now.
With the economy languishing, the need for the programs that United Way supports is greater than ever. We know that many people won't be able to contribute as much as they have in the past, so we plan to expand our campaigns into additional workplaces, increase the percentage of employees donating in each, and increase our residential and small business fundraising. We've made a good start - but we need your help. Please consider donating to the campaign this year and rest easy knowing that you are ADVANCING THE COMMON GOOD.
Poem dropped on our counter
This poem was left on the counter here at United Way. The individual who wrote it also wrote a lovely letter (contents found under "Community Impact" tab) and we recommend you read that too.
United Way
When there isn't enough money to pay your full rent and your cupboard are bare and your last dollars spent.
There is a place you can turn to after all the prayers and tears; a place to help you out with some of those fears.
I went there with my head hung low, embarrased to be needing a helping hand. Then I looked up to see a smiling face and somehow knew, "they understand'.
Its a hard time in America now, and its getting harder every day; But is so comforting to know there's a place called United Way.
What We Do...
Otsego County United Way in Gaylord Michigan provides funding for service agencies investing in our community through targeted programs. But we do much more than that; Under the United Way umbrella are Volunteer services, including Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Volunteer Center as well as First Call for Help, providing housing and utility assistance for people and families in need of support. Volunteer services provide volunteers for non-profit worksites and projects. We accept donations, planned giving contributions and fundraises through events at various times throughout the year. Our focus is on the building blocks of a strong community: Health, Education, and Income, supporting programs that effect positive change in these areas.
