Otsego County United Way’s Literacy LEAGUE is here! We are working to recruit 75 volunteers to join our Literacy League, an organized, trained group of volunteers ready to assist children and youth in pre-school, K-12, and out-of-school settings and develop literacy skills.
BUT FIRST - we need to know how you believe volunteers could be best used in your organization
Call us at 989-732-8929 for a copy of the survey or to join our Literacy League!

Underneath everything we are, underneath everything we do, we are all people. Connected, Interdependent, United. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED.
Otsego County United Way in Gaylord Michigan provides funding for service agencies investing in our community through targeted programs. But we do much more than that; Under the United Way umbrella are Volunteer services, including Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Volunteer Center as well as First Call for Help, providing housing and utility assistance for people and families in need of support. Volunteer services provide volunteers for non-profit worksites and projects. We accept donations, planned giving contributions and fundraises through events at various times throughout the year. Our focus is on the building blocks of a strong community: Health, Education, and Income, supporting programs that effect positive change in these areas.
The Otsego County United Way Board has established the 2013-14 campaign goal as $175,000., but in Otsego County it is not about the goal, it's about the need. With the effects of the recession continuing in our community, the needs for programs and services we support are greater than ever. This year we will work to include more businesses in our campaign efforts, challenge them and the community to LIVE UNITED by making this goal a reality, and invite you to help celebrate our success on behalf of EVERYONE in Otsego County. Not pledged or donated yet? WE MISS YOU, and we need you. Please consider hitting the "Donate" button and making that donation now.
With the economy languishing, the need for the programs that United Way supports is greater than ever. We know that many people won't be able to contribute as much as they have in the past, so we plan to expand our campaigns into additional workplaces, increase the percentage of employees donating in each, and increase our residential and small business fundraising. Please consider donating to the campaign this year and rest easy knowing that you are helping people year around.
Otsego County United Way works daily to fulfill its mission of:
“Uniting volunteers and mobilizing resources to improve lives by supporting effective programs addressing community needs in Otsego County.”
