Information About The TACKLE Fund

NuEnergy, LLC started the TACKLE Fund in 2016. The fund helps local people who are facing cancer. Today, TACKLE focuses on helping Otsego County residents who have a cancer diagnosis.

NuEnergy, LLC created the TACKLE Fund and still leads it today. Local partners also help run the program. Otsego County United Way houses the program, works with people who need help, and manages transportation. RSVP, located in the United Way building, provides volunteer drivers and schedules the TACKLE van and rides. The Otsego Community Foundation manages a fund for TACKLE.

Almost everyone knows someone with cancer—a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor. That is why we believe our community should face cancer together.

Assistance From The TACKLE Fund

Cancer can bring costs that people do not expect. The TACKLE Fund helps Otsego County residents with cancer. Help may include:

  • Free rides to daily radiation treatments at Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

  • Help with lodging when treatment is out of town or requires an overnight stay.

  • Personal care items, such as wigs, adaptive clothing, or comfort items.

  • Financial aid, including help with bills, groceries, or travel needs.

Need something else? Please ask. We may be able to help.

If you or someone you know needs help from the TACKLE Fund, call 989.732.6232 or fill out the form below. We will talk with you and help find the best option.

Ways To Support The TACKLE Fund

We are thankful for the support our community has given TACKLE. NuEnergy leads fundraising efforts. Each June, NuEnergy partners with Otsego Resort to host a golf outing.

Other groups have raised money for TACKLE in recent years. These include Vicky’s Voice, the Mighty Misfits, Gaylord Eagles Aerie #1825, Gaylord High School National Honor Society, and Gaylord High School Athletics.

In 2022, Otsego County United Way helped secure a new vehicle and sponsors for the program.

You can help too. If you would like to donate to TACKLE, please visit the donation page. Your gift helps the TACKLE Fund grow. Together, we can stand against cancer and keep support local every day. Money donated to the Otsego County United Way TACKLE program is used right away to help people in need. You may also give to the Otsego Community Foundation to support TACKLE in the future.

If you want to learn more or ask how you can help, please contact Otsego County United Way. We are happy to answer your questions.
