Evolving Traditions: A New Chapter for Community Giving

Dear Friends,

For years, Power of the Purse was a signature event in our community—a celebration of generosity, connection, and the power of women making a difference. Thanks to your support, that event helped fund countless programs that strengthened Otsego County United Way’s mission. We are deeply grateful for the role you played in making it a success.

As our community’s needs evolve, so too does our approach. We are now focusing less on fundraising galas and more on mission-driven events that bring neighbors together and directly serve those in need.

This year, instead of Power of the Purse, we are excited to host United at the Table—a free community Thanksgiving meal. This event will welcome families, seniors, and individuals who might otherwise spend the holiday alone or without enough to eat. More than a meal, it will be a gathering of gratitude, fellowship, and unity.

We invite you to continue your legacy of support by making a gift to help underwrite United at the Table. Your donation will help cover the cost of food, supplies, and hospitality, ensuring that everyone has a place at the table this Thanksgiving.

You can make your gift today at www.otsegounitedway.org, by mailing a check, or stopping in to learn more about this wonderful community opportunity. Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more united Otsego County—one meal, one act of kindness, one community at a time. Your name will be featured as a supporter on social media, our website, and at the event.

Thank you for being part of this important transition. While Power of the Purse may no longer be on our calendar, the spirit of giving it inspired is alive and well—because United is the Way.

With gratitude,

Kimberly Akin

Executive Director Otsego County United Way
